Pete Brand co‐founded the web marketing and development firm, Mindscape, in 2001 and, in 2008, joined forces with Grand Rapids‐based Hanon McKendry to create a fully integrated, multi‐platform branding and marketing agency. Pete currently leads Internet marketing research and strategy for the firm and pays close attention to business process refinement, always seeking ways to work more effectively and efficiently in this ever‐evolving industry.

Pete believes grassroots engagement is the key to building strong, vibrant communities—including customer communities.

• In 2010, he led Google Fiber for Grand Rapids, a social media advocacy campaign in support of the city’s bid to attract Google’s fiber optic trial. Within weeks of its launch, the campaign drew over 38,000 Facebook followers, generated over a dozen advocacy videos from community leaders and citizens, garnered national media attention, and short‐listed the city in Google’s nationwide search.

• Most recently, Pete provided digital marketing strategy and support to organizers of the internationally acclaimed Grand Rapids LipDub, a video created to promote Grand Rapids in response to negative publicity in the mainstream media. In less than two weeks, the video exceeded 3 million YouTube views, was seen in every country that has internet access, and garnered worldwide media attention. Subsequently, Pete provided the GR LipDub partners business development and marketing counsel in support of their new business launch.
